New Beginnings

I wrote this note below the morning after Aaron proposed. It was difficult to write, and I didn't really know where it would end up. I'm happy to share it, but just here ―  in a blog that likely hasn't been read (and definitely not written in) for nearly 6 years. Which is befitting, because now, 6 years later, my life is changing in big, big ways.

Read on.

"You know that place between sleep and awake, that place where you still remember dreaming? That's where I'll always love you." ― J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan

Last night, Aaron took me back to our beginning, to where we fell in love. On the bimah at Sixth & I, he asked me to be his wife.

In that moment, I never felt more loved or more blessed in my entire life. It's as though the happiness that I experienced filled the synagogue pews, streamed out to the streets of DC, then onto the faces and into the hearts of the family and friends who joined us at a many "layered" surprise party (which turns out to have been an engagement surprise even for the guests!).

Thus bringing me to our next major update (as if this wasn't enough)! Following graduation from business school, Aaron recently accepted an offer at a dream job in New York City. And so, we will soon be leaving DC, and closing out our time in what has been our home for the past 7 and 8 years respectively. It's an incredible transition and a major step along our shared path of love and happiness together.

We are humbled by the outpouring of support we have received from friends, colleagues and family during this special time. It's as though we've just arrived at a new beginning, where one can only feel like we're in a dream, and the reality is more beautiful than I could have ever imagined.
